The Jesus Adventure: Worship FULL Followers

The Jesus Adventure series has established a pattern for our lives as followers of Jesus: Called → Equipped → Sent → Restored . To embed that pattern into our lives, requires consistent and persistent discipline of receiving God’s grace. This grace is poured out for us in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. From now until Easter we will explore the discipline of worship as a primary means by which God delivers his grace, his unlimited and undeserved love, into our lives. We come together regularly to praise, listen, pray, and to experience the real presence of God in our lives. In so doing, we become Worship FULL Followers of Jesus. Sunday, March 3rd: We focus on Luke 9:33, "It is good that we are here" . The Transfiguration of Jesus sets the stage for learning, and relearning, the power of worship in our lives as followers of Jesus. In worship, God brings us into his presence to grow in our faith so we can go back into our everyday lives empowered to God’s beacons o...

Ladies and Gentlemen Start Your Engines!

St. Luke’s had the pleasure of hosting the SLLS 500! This event is held every other year for first and second grade students. The SLLS 500 is a miniature version of the Daytona 500. Students made their own race cars out of cardboard boxes and participated in race car themed events. In preparation of race day, the teachers used a racing theme with every activity in the classroom. For example, in their STEAM project, students were paired in groups and put their critical thinking skills to the test to build a race track out of limited materials. Students were able to truly understand the meaning of teamwork. Just like in NASCAR racing, it isn’t just about the driver, you rely on your entire team to cross the finish line. The theme verse for the SLLS 500 was Hebrews 12:1b “ Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” The students weren’t just taught about racing and teamwork, they were able to learn how to run with endurance in the race of life. This was instille...

New Sermon Series : The Jesus Adventure

One hundred and seven years ago a group of people set out on an incredible adventure to live as followers of Jesus in a strange, rugged, and undeveloped place called Oviedo Florida. The base camp for their new life was St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.  Today we continue their journey in a rapidly changing cultural landscape. The terrain around us is shifting and fewer and fewer people are looking to church as a reliable place to receive support, encouragement, and direction to navigate the uncharted territory of 21st century America.  The adventure continues. Our lives are integral parts of God’s work to bring meaning and purpose to our families, our coworkers, and our neighbors. This is the Jesus Adventure. Join us every Sunday to get rested and re-supplied for the week of adventure ahead!

A Night in Bethlehem

More than 2300 people arrived to visit Bethlehem and see the Savior of the World!  A HUGE THANK YOU to our congregation for all the support necessary to make Bethlehem a reality every year.  The marketplace continues to grow each year and the tour tells the story of Jesus in a way that lets the Spirit work in the hearts of those who hear the message.  If you didn't get a chance to see it, view some 3D videos of the marketplace and the tour .  (Use your mouse to 'spin' the video around!) And with the matching gift, St. Luke's is giving HOPE Helps over $55,000 to help people from becoming homeless.

Operation Barefoot Mission Trip

The Lord is blessing the work in Honduras!  Our team had a great time sharing the love of Christ as they washed feet, fitted new shoes, fixed and played.  Their witness to the love of God has been tremendous.  Read all about their trip on the blog .
